Drones... an emerging and fast-growing technology or a bane on our lives?
With increasing numbers of incidents appearing in the news (near misses close to international airports etc) it is becoming imperative that the law and regulations are tightened, making it more challenging to fly drones in certain environs... and rightly so for obvious reasons.
The Property Filming Company works hard with local authorities, police forces and Air Traffic Control to ensure that the necessary permissions are acquired to fly a drone before a job is confirmed and undertaken. It's important to rigidly stick to the rules.
Take a job in Windsor, for example. Upon initial client brief, it's clear that it's required to fly in a very sensitive and high-security location. Windsor is a "No Drone Zone". Lesser companies will call it a day and "manage the client's expectations" but not The Property Filming Company.
Manners and common sense dictate a necessity to contact Windsor Castle to make an introduction to the Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Department of the London Metropolitan Police.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council also need to authorise the use of their land (permission from landowners for takeoff and landing is essential according to CAA commercial drone law). Sending emails attaching Insurance, Ops Manual and CAA Permission for Commercial Operations Certificate gains the necessary permission within 24 hrs. Job done!
Well not quite... It's still necessary to prepare flight plans, risk assessment and method statements, monitor weather conditions, fly (informing Thames Valley Police and Heathrow Airport Air Traffic Control on the day) and capture the client's images.
But there you have it. The Property Filming Company never say never. The Property Filming Company rise to and overcome obstacles because of a healthy mix of determination, self-belief and, above all, qualifications and commitment to safety.
When you need a drone shoot on your site drop us a line. We promise that we'll jump through hoops representing your best interests.
